Hey There Good Lookin'

Hey there good lookin’? You are awesome and we’d like to celebrate that. In our media centric days it’s easy to get caught up on the latest fad and feel the pressure to fit into a certain type of body frame or image. This issue is not only happening in America, but all over the world. But don’t lose hope; the standards of beauty vary from place to place and time to time.

Come to the Conference Room on Friday, February 25 to watch a marathon of Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty to see her journey around the world to explore beauty.  The marathon will start at 5 and end at 10 PM.

On February 26, 2-4 PM we will be having a continuation of the program. Two full hours of self-appreciating, feel good hang-out time at the Conference Room. It’s a totally informal session with super fun activities that will make you feel awesome about yourself. Refreshments and fondue served as well. Hope to see you there!

Just as Hawaii born Grammy Award winning singer Bruno Mars said, “You’re amazing just the way you are.”

The Front Door is Fixed!!!

You read that right. The FRONT Door is Fixed! After being broken for months Frear’s front door has been fixed. The Frear staff hopes that our door will remain functional through the rest of the year. Here are some tips to help keep our front door functional:

  • Swipe your key card, wait for the beep and the sound of locks turning, THEN open the door. Easy, breezy, simple :)

  • Keep the door closed and refrain from opening the door to the point that it hinges back. This actually breaks the door.

Hip-hop Abs! Gag-gift gone good

A New Year, a new you! For many the beginning of the new year brings about aspirations and resolutions of losing weight. With this in mind, RAs Skyy and Sara held a Hip-hop Abs dancing program at the Conference Room.
The program had a great turn out! 20 residents came and had a blast burning calories with the upbeat video. Many of these residents actually take dance classes and are interested in more dance events here at Frear. Look out Frearians, more dance programs are on the way.

New Year's Around The World Continued

Ever wondered why some New Years are celebrated in different months of the year? On February 3rd, Hala presented on the different calendars that countries around the world followed as well and the Chinese Zodiac. In addition, Yumi also made delicious Ozoni Soup, a Japanese soup traditionally made with mochi during the New Year. Finally, Hala also made her awesome lamb dumplings for residents to try out.

Update on Roses: Community Council

Due to a high demand of interest in the Chocolate roses Community Council has now closed the ordering process. Community council had a total of 126 orders for roses. Thank you and we appreciate you support!
If you would like to create a positive change in the building, please join Community Council. This is a group that is run by students. Though our ARD Christin advises the group, all ideas are student generated. Whether you are passionate about creating activities or want to make Frear a better place for residents, here is your place to shine.

Frear’s Community Council meets twice a month on Mondays at 6PM in the Game Room. Our next meeting is on March 7, 2011. See you there!
